BILL DRUCK is a six and seven string guitarist and composer who plays modern jazz, while still rooted in the "jazz tradition." He treats his performances like a piece of art in progress. It may go toward a modern edge, lean towards something traditional, or expose some country pickin'. Bill likes to play "for the moment" and entering with a blank slate, letting the music dictate the direction his playing should take. Bill has played in numerous jazz settings, including traditional swing to ultra modern, with regional and international performers bringing his unique, fluid style to the proceedings. Recently, he was featured on a tradional jazz alum let by pianist Tom Colgan, titled "Fall Flower." Bill resides with his wife and two sons in South Central, Pennsylvania, just north of Baltimore. He is on the music faculty at York College of Pennsylvania, York, PA, where he teaches jazz and contemporary guitar. JAY UMBLE has studied with world-renowned jazz guitarists Pat Martino and Joe Dioriio. It has been said of Jay, "he is an abstract, modern guitarist forging his own musical path." He is on the faculty at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, and Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA where he teaches guitar mechanics, harmony/theory, and fretboard integration, in addition to general guitar playing. Jay has published several instructional books thru Mel Bay Publications, and is also published in Japan. His latest recording project, "Spirit Crossing" with international percussionist, Jamey Haddad, is a world beat/adult contemporary project. In addtion to his duo partner Bill Druck, he free-lances throughout the Central Pennsylvania region. Residing with his wife Kimberly and son Theodore, Jay finds joy in the music of his contemporaries, modern art, the outdoors, an excellent book and a good cup of coffee. |
