ARTIST STATEMENT
"Even while painting, my sensibilities as a performing musician come into play...
I find my voice in vibrant colors. I look for rhythm in architecture. I approach the act of painting as a performance, conveying as much mood and energy as the materials allow....."

RESUME
Jonathan grew up in Dillsburg PA, and was accepted into the Harrisburg Area Arts Magnet School his senior year. He went on to study at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, then to Kutztown University, where he received his BFA. He served 4 years in the Air Force before returning to the Harrisburg area where he has made his living as an artist and performing musician. He has been involved with numerous local arts organizations, and is the youngest member of the Seven Lively Artists. He is often commissioned for pen & ink architectural renderings. He is primarily known for his vibrantly colored landscapes painted in oil or watercolor. His work has been featured at Gallery 30 in Gettysburg and the F.A.N. Gallery in Philadelphia, as well as the Second Floor Gallery, the Art Association of Harrisburg, and the recent Seven Lively Artists retrospective at the Cumberland County Historical Society. One of his paintings was published in the June/July 2009 issue of "International Artist". The piece was a finalist in a world-wide competition. He will be in group shows with the Seven Lively Artists in the summer of 2010 at the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence.
