ROBERT BITTS     resume

ROBERT BITTS
Artist’s Reception, Saturday, June 24, 2006, 1-4 pm

Exhibition continues thru August

Lynden Gallery presents new work by ROBERT BITTS in solo exhibition of large, picturesque acrylic paintings on canvas.  June 23 thru August 5, 2006.   An Artist’s Reception will be held on Saturday afternoon, June 24 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

A preservationist at heart, Bob’s sweeping acrylics on canvas capture the primitive beauty of stone, twig, boulder and branch – earthly elements we all see each day, but often overlook.  “I’ve been experimenting with size and scale, creating variations on a single scene from near and far,” Bob explains. Diptych pieces such as “Longs Peak – Near and Far” reflect this new aesthetic.

A lifelong resident of Lancaster County and graduate of Millersville University, Bob’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Reading Museum, Reading, PA, Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA, Millersville University, Millersville, PA, Lancaster PA, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, E.I. DuPont, Wilmington, Delaware, Armstrong World Industries, Donnelley Printing Company, Bank of Lancaster County, Hamilton Bank, First Union Bank, Lancaster Newspapers, Capital Blue Cross and the Lancaster Museum of Art all of Lancaster, PA.

Bob’s varied landscapes, from New England to the Rocky Mountains, Lancaster County to the American Southwest are painstakingly rendered using a special technique he developed over thirty years ago.  Nature’s most fundamental forms are stylistically captured in these vast landscapes – almost abstract up close, they are photorealistic from a distance.

Lynden Gallery is located at 117 South Market Street in downtown Elizabethtown, is handicap accessible and offers convenient parking.  The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 to 5:00, with evening hours available by appointment.   For more information about Lynden Gallery or Bob Bitts, kindly call the gallery at 717.367.9236 or refer to the website at www.lyndengallery.com.
